While settling in to life stateside, I knew just where to start. I made our home my focus and my creative outlet. Home (as we all know) can be a refuge, a place for needed respite. This pamphlet, written by Estelle Ries and published in 1948, says it all: home is what you make it! The best part is the subtitle: the housewife's creative contributions in planning a successful, liveable [sic], beautiful haven that will satisfy its personalities [italics added for, well, emphasis]. Need I say more!?
